Press Release – SLCH Teams With Stewart Airport for Heart Event

February 20, 2008

Newburgh, NY – St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital (SLCH) recently teamed with the American Heart Association and Port Authority of NY/NJ to provide free blood pressure screenings and information on heart disease and stroke to travelers at Stewart Airport in Newburgh. The event was held in recognition of Heart Month.

SLCH nurses conducted the blood pressure screenings and offered advice on heart health. Over 100 travelers stopped by to get their pressure checked, talk to the nursing staff, or take health-related materials.

“St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital was eager to partner with the American Heart Association and the Port Authority on this important initiative,” said Margaret Deyo Allers, R.N., N.P., director of Cardiac Services at SLCH. “As a regional leader in cardiac and stroke services, the hospital is always interested in opportunities to educate the public and provide potentially life-saving information."
